HR departments are overrated.

Reboots often fail because of bloated HR.

Big HR teams focus on policies, hiring, listening. But they slow execution.

You need to outsource HR, on day one of your reboot.

This is about cultural change.

Managers should LEAD.

They should own performance and retention.

When HR is too big, employees go to HR, not managers. Managers let HR handle recruiting.

This breaks the chain of command.

In the military, you hold the chain responsible.

Managers should solve problems and recruit their teams.

Empower leaders. No passing the buck.

Yes, employees sometimes have issues with bosses. CEOs and department heads must step in.

As CEO, know your team. Hold 1:1s. Understand issues and team happiness.

If employees don’t feel heard, they run to HR. This creates tension.

So, rip off the band-aid. Create your culture. Don't delegate this to HR.

Take these steps:

→ Outsource HR.
→ Empower managers to lead.
→ CEOs should engage with teams.
→ Eliminate HR bottlenecks.
→ Foster direct communication.

Create a culture where managers are true leaders.
